Health and nutrition

Healthy eating begins in childhood and is the absolute foundation of lifelong health and wellbeing. We believe that children need to be inspired and encouraged to eat good food from a young age.

Food has been connected very securely to behaviour and learning management.  We therefore feel that if we can supply the children in our care with wonderful, tasty, nourishing food it can also have very positive outcomes with their growth and learning abilities.

Rebecca one of our owners, is also a passionate naturopath, nutritionist and foodie. She intricately programs the menu with the aim of providing wholesome, home cooked meals with optimal nutritional content, all made with love by onsite chefs.

Bec’s special interest is in children’s health and supports our mission in providing a rich learning environment. Raising awareness amongst children and parents of the importance of eating healthily and consciously, especially in the younger years as this is where food habits are formed for life. Drawing on Bec’s years of experience both as a naturopath coaching young and old in healthy eating and lifestyle, as well having 4 beautiful children of her own, and 11 years of providing nutrient packed meals for the masses at her centres on the Gold Coast, Bec’s love of wholefoods, local and seasonal produce and cooking, means that children at Cornubia Park, will be served the absolute best nutrition for happy little tummies.

Our wholesome plant-based menu includes a broad variety of foods from all groups, providing children’s daily macronutrient requirements. A plant-based menu provides more serves of vegetables per meal vs. predominantly animal-based meals. The Chief Health Officer Report by Queensland Health indicates that only 4% of children are eating enough vegetables and 70% eating enough fruit. This is a worrying statistic, and we are committed to providing children with vegetables in 2-4 meals per day and achieve 50-70% of their RDI.

Each meal served at the centre will be nutritious, substantial, have great taste and texture, are familiar to children and are thoroughly enjoyed. Educator’s and children’s feedback is constantly taken on board and meals that are not successful are quickly changed to ones that are. Educators are encouraged to eat with children whilst role modelling great eating habits.

We look forward to nourishing the minds and bodies of our wonderful children at Cornubia Park and sharing the journey with you!

Sustainability

Our commitment to providing your child with highly nutritious meals, aligns with our philosophy on sustainable eating practices. From the get-go, Cornubia Park Early Learning has had a holistic approach to care of our precious children, providing ideally Organic nutritious meals, and an environment as close to nature as possible.

We are committed to creating a non-toxic environment with the elimination of cleaning chemicals and pest control, supplying our own brand Green Kids Co chemical free nappies,  wipes, sunscreen, low tox natural toys and linen, along with providing optimal nutrition. We stay as sustainable as possible by choosing local produce, using less food miles, minimising packaging, limiting refined foods, minimally processing, and making meals that are organically simple yet delicious. We are more than ever, in the face of unprecedented environmental consequences of animal agriculture, committed to sustainable eating practices for the benefit of our children and the earth.
